Willow's Lunch

I was disappointed to not get to take part in Muffin Tin Monday yesterday. The theme was movies and I had a cute Little Mermaid theme planned out for my Willow. I even bought a few cute things for it. But my day was just too busy, I couldn’t get to it. Instead she had a plain peanut butter sandwich and granola bar with fruit. It wasn’t even cut out with a cookie cutter, just folded over in half. Standards are slipping!

But I did promise her I would make her a sheepy sandwich today and she was very excited about it, so here it is. Baaa!

By the way, I managed to get her to eat some GREEN broccoli yesterday for dinner. I sat with her and told her they were cute little ‘trees’ and we talked about what kind of animals like to live in trees. Then I watched her happily gobble them all down. I don’t know why, maybe it was the mention of animals, but it worked!

See Shannon's linky for some fun bento inspiration this week.

OMG the cute level is Off The Chart!! This is definitely going in my "bentos that inspire me" file! (seriously, I have one)

I think I need a 'flower' cookie cutter now.

Thank you guys. This wasn't the original way I was going to do these sheep sandwiches. I wanted to cut the nose area out of the bread but it wasn't working out without a cutter that shape :( But I guess they're still cute. Glory, thanks! I have one of those folders too hehe

These sheep are so cute! I'm looking through your blog, and I really like the mini sandwich cutter/sealer you use. It would be perfect for my 3 year old. I can't find it anywhere on the web; will you tell me where you got yours, or what the name of it is so I can search properly? Thanks!

Kelly Polizzi said...

Carissa they are sold from Japan. You can type in sandwich cutter on ebay and a whole bunch will come up or you can search some Bento sites such as Jlist but I've always just used ebay. Heres the specific one I used in the post I think you're referring to, is this one: http://cgi.ebay.com/BENTO-accessories-MINI-SANDWICH-MAKER-bread-cutter-mold-/400150267305?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d2ad085a9#ht_4813wt_1215

You can also just use cookie cutters to seal sandwiches. Take a circle one for instance, you can cut bread out with it, fill with filling, place the top circle on and then turn the cookie cutter over and use the other side to press down or use one the next size smaller to seal. Hope I didn't word that too confusing.

You are just too creative. Good job with the broccoli. I am spoiled with a veggie-loving child. I have picked her up from daycare before and asked what she wanted for a snack only to hear "got cucumbers?" Why yes, of course!

Kelly Polizzi said...

Hah! I wish Willow would ask for cucumbers. That's awesome. All I get everyday is, 'I need a granola bar mommy' lol

I am totally stealing this one. What are the little things on the nose?
