Today Willow had a rhino-shaped honey sandwich. For some reason she thought the rhino shape would affect the honey flavor and got mad at me! She also had some apple wedges, baby bel cheese and little cucumber bunnies with ranch dip. She ate her sandwich (so I guess it tasted fine!) and a little of everything else.

My son would kill for a rhino sandwich! Hilarious she thought it would affect the flavor. I love love the little bucket of ranch!

That's the cutest thing ever... my son does things like that.. like if I cut his sandwich into triangles, he won't eat it because apparently the triangles taste different than the squares. *sigh*. I'm your latest follower from FMBT.

Cute lunch! Kids... I cut my 2 year old daughter a piece of cheese that was obviously "all wrong" the other day, and she had a complete meltdown. They grow out if it..... right? lol

I've been scrolling through your blog, looking at the lunch posts for Willow. You're a genius at that stuff! Really, really amazing and creative.
I was wondering what you do with the food material left over from cutting out shapes. I've never seen anyone blog about what they do with the scraps of bread and cheese and other material left over.
Thanks for sharing!
Aww thank you Mama Bee! I'm so glad you liked the lunches. I am in no way a genius though, you should see the other bento blogs out there (if you haven't). There are some really artistically talented people out there doing this for their children every day.
When it comes to scraps I usually eat her crusts or leftovers from sandwiches and they are good for homemade breadcrumbs too! She will nibble on the cheese scraps as I am preparing the bento. If she doesn't, I'll just put them in a ziplock bag for another day. Chopped veggies such as carrots are good for chicken soups!
I don't always make use of the leftovers but there are certainly ways to do that to avoid waste.
