Bento

I actually sent my child outside to play on her slide today while Ryder and I sat on the steps to watch. Oh I miss the sun!! And it was hardly play-outside-for-a-long-time kind of weather but you gotta take what little sun you can get where we live!

A simple but colorful lunch today consisting of a ham and cheese sandwich with a little penguin on top (I was going to try to make him cuter with white wings etc but Ryder was hanging on my ankle and having none of it!). Also carrots, snow peas and grapes - which she hardly touched any of *sigh* gotta get this kid eating her fruit and veggies again!

I'm making a new recipe for dinner tonight; Caribbean Jerk chicken with rice. Let you know how it turns out!

Have you tried a crinkle cutter for the carrots?(can be used on other veggies and fruit too)
20yrs ago I bought one at a Pampered Chef Party and still use it today for my Hubbys lunch.
He says his veggies taste better that way. I think they stay crispier.
My kids always ate the carrot and celery sticks when I crinkle cut them.
They also were dunkers...they would eat anything if I gasve them something to dunk it in. lol

I am totally in the same boat as you with my picky eater and fruits and veggies Kelly! I suppose all we can do is try and you are sure doing that....and in such a cute way! Gotta love those tiny bits of sunshine :) I'm glad you got to enjoy it!

The fruits and veggies made it beautiful, even if she didn't eat them. Keep trying! She may surprise you one of these days :)

@ katklaw777: i actually bought a crinkle cutter a while back but have only used it once. Maybe it's time to bring it out again. Thanks for the suggestion!

@jenni: thanks! i needed to hear that. Sometimes it seems like everyone else's kids eat their fruits and veggies, especially after seeing all the wonderful bentos on blogger. Nice to know it's not just mine. I agree, we just need to keep at it :)

The sun will soon be here i think everyone is now impatient for the sun to come out. i want to make use of our new garden, although a lot of tidying needs to be done!

Adorable lunch! I miss the sun too. I'm getting really tired of all the snow - and we've got at least another month or two of it to go. Oh joy.
