Baby Shower Cake

I was asked to make a cake for a lady at church who was having a baby shower. She recently had a little boy named Ryan. I just love making cakes so I was very happy to do it. And, after a long time deliberating, here’s what I decided to do.

An 11x15 sheet cake with a baby bottle on top.

I felt a bit rusty because I haven’t made a cake in a while and it was quite disastrous trying to pull it off with a screaming baby the whole time and my 3 year old following me around, trying to stick her fingers in the frosting … argh! But within half an hour before it was time to take it to church, I finished it and sighed a big sigh of relief. There’s lots of things I would have done better I’m sure if I had a quiet house to do it in (and if the first cake hadn’t squished in two!), but I was satisfied with it. I just have to teach myself I can’t do everything perfectly. That and make sure Daddy or Grandma takes the kids for the day next time!
The shower was nice. Fun games and lots of cute little baby boy clothes. Ryder slept on me the whole time fortunately and Willow played with a friend (mostly) quietly. Jamie (whom the shower was for) and the other ladies liked the cake so I was happy :D

That's a great job! I'm not very good at icing cakes.

Wow awesome cake, and your little ones are just adorable. Thanks for visiting and commenting on my post. I love all your food pics - the Bento boxes for your daughter is something I'm going to have to try for my son.

I'll be following you as well.
